Why This is the Shorashim Trip for you

"Every single person/interaction/experience from this trip has moved me in ways I've never thought imaginable. I connected to my Jewish/Israeli heritage which makes me feel so much closer to family & where I come from. I was ALSO able to experience a temporary world where I could wake up, go to sleep & everything in-between with the LGBT+ community which brought me to such a different place with myself & where I am going. This trip was life changing & has put me in a state of mind I never want to leave. At one point during this trip, I talked with one of our guides about how fearful I am to go back home from this and be confronted with reality of a world that isn't so welcoming and free as this trip with these people has been. Later that night, while we went star gazing out in the Negev Desert, she pointed out that the moon we see here is the same moon that we will see back at home, & when we are feeling lost & without place to just look at the moon & come back to this moment. This trip let me explore my identity as a Jewish American & my place in the LGBT+ community. These people & experiences have made me both laugh & cry hysterically, & I wouldn't have had it any other way. So thankful to my new Jewish/queer family!"
